Research Vice President at Gartner, Sid Nag, stated that “the pandemic validated cloud’s value proposition.” Expecting cloud growth to continue through 2024, Nag went on to say that “Cloud adoption . . . becomes a significant means to stay ahead in a post-COVID-19 world focused on agility and digital touchpoints.”
According to Business Insider, cloud services are becoming "the new normal" for companies during the pandemic. Because cloud services are available on-demand over the internet, they help companies transition to digital operations that support a remote workforce. The cost-efficiency of the cloud also helped organizations keep their heads above water during the financial downturn in the early months of the pandemic.
Cloud services and managed services are not the same thing. A managed service provider (MSP) may provide cloud services, but a cloud provider does not necessarily provide managed services.
